Chapter Program:

Our program for October is entitled "CFC Refrigerant Phaseout Update - Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow." We are fortunate to have Robert Lee, of the DuPont Company, as our featured speaker. Rob has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware in 1983, and has performed a variety of assignments within DuPont including R&D, Manufacturing, and Technical Service. Rob was a member of the CFC Retrofit Team, and is the market developer of SUVA 95 - DuPont's new refrigerant to replace R-13, R-505 and
R-23. Rob's current title is simply "Industry Specialist."
Rob will discuss three subject areas during his presentation. The do's and don'ts of CFC retrofits will touch upon the myth and reality of field CFC changeouts, drawing on the last five years of practical field experience. Following will be a discussion of the new replacement refrigerants on the horizon, and their applications. And finally, a look ahead into the future, including proposed future regulation and their implications for our industry. A brief question and answer session will follow.

For reservations, please contact Shirley Johnson, 317-595-3050, by Friday, October 10.

TECH SESSION

Is ASHRAE 15 Code? Or Recommendation? ASHRAE 15 is a very sensitive issue in our industry. Dick McClure, The Chill Company, has attended the Indiana Building Committee's public hearing on the adoption of new international refrigerant standards, and will share this information with us.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Thank you once again to Dale Fazekas for setting up and operating the golf outing. Dale deserves a thank you from all of us. The ASHRAE golf outing was non-existent until Dale took over. Now golfers are knocking down the door to be included. Due to the members' input, we have decided to keep the Marten House as our Chapter Meeting Facility. The attendance to the meetings increased sharply last year when we switched from the dungeon Murat. All future meetings except tours, will be held at the Marten House. The Chapter loses money on each meeting so we have instituted Meeting Sponsors. Duncan Supply is the Sponsor of the October Meeting. This is intended to help defray the cost of our new meeting facility and allow the price to remain at $15 per person. If anyone or anyone's company would like to be a sponsor for a future meeting, please contact me at 317-595-3050. Thank you to all of the Central Indiana Chapter Members who attended the CRC in Cincinnati. It was very informative to the operation of our chapter. M. K. Stewart
