Of course, no talk would be complete without the “lessons learned”.Tech SessionOur speaker for the February Tech Session will be Steve Rosenberg, with LESCO Associates who are Noise and Vibration Control Consultants based here in Indianapolis. The subject of Steve’s presentation will be "HVAC Noise Control, The Simple Solution". This will be a short "primer" on the basics of HVAC noise control terminology and how to predict when noise problems are being built into the HVAC system design. Steve is a registered Professional Engineer and has worked for nearly 30 years with building owners and managers, architects, contractors, mechanical consultants and equipment vendors to address their vibration and noise control concerns. PRESIDENTS MESSAGE The January meeting on economics provided an interesting perspective on that which affects our very existence. However, perspective is not just limited to economics but it relates to the chapters very purpose. In the days following the meeting a person, who was not in attendance, inquired how the chapter was doing in the 21st century. His question was simply “Since everything can be obtained on the internet why would people attend the meetings?”. Value is something that we struggle with daily in our modern society. Though I would like to believe that everyone attends chapter meetings because of my good looks and charm, it is because they perceive value for the time invested. Since there are many sources of information in our modern society, determining useful information from junk has become one of the most important skills. The speakers provide an interactive source of information and a way to immediately verify the information’s value. And the meetings allow you to use the perspective of your peers experience, knowledge, and vision to refine that information. Rodney Cross, Lucretia Myers, Gregory Stephens joined ASHRAE in December because of this value. From my perspective I definitely believe there is value to attending meetings since like you, time is my most precious commodity, and February provides an excellent learning opportunity. Mr. Jeff Kaden, Director of Engineering Services at Indiana University will discuss commissioning. Mr. Steve Rosenberg will discuss the basics of acoustics during the Technical Session. And the members of SMACNA have been invited adding their expertise and knowledge. M. K. Stewartc/o Energy Systems Group5420 W.
